UNIT 9 : A FIRST _ AID COURSE
The total periods : 6
Date : From 15th . January To 27th / January.2007.
I. Objectives :
1. Educational aims : Ss should be careful when they do a first aid course for a wound.
ask them to remember that “ Health is above wealth”
2. Teaching aims : By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to solve some situation/
emergencies by giving a first aid.
II. Language contents :
- Grammar : The simple future tense
- Phrases of purpose: to- inf. So as to – inf, in order to – inf.
2.Vocabulary : ( N ) bite, blood, burn, conciuosness , crutch, elevation, emergency,
Fainting, injection, shock, sting, stretcher, victim,wound.
( V ) bite, bleed, burn, elevate, inject, minimite, sterilize, sting, treat.

Lesson 1 :Getting started & Listen and read :Ss can solve some situation/

Period 55 Lesson 1: - Getting started
- Listen and read
1.Objectives:
Educational aim: By the end the lesson, Ss can know what they would do in the situations
which require first – aid.
- Teaching aims: Reading for details about the situations which require first - aid
2.Language contents:
a. Grammar:
- Future simple
- Will to make requests, offers and promises
b.Vocabulary : emergency, sterile dressing, medicated oil, water pack, ambulance,
conscious, bleed
3.Techniques: ask and answer, role play, picture description,.
4.Teaching aids: pictures, cassette

1.Warm up : 5’ Kim’s game :
- Ask Ss to open their books and look at the things on p.
80 (for 20”). Tell them these things are often used for
first – aid.
- Divide the class into two groups.
- Ask Ss to close their books and go to the board to write the
names of the things they’ve just seen from memory.
(English or Vietnamese)
- Tell them the group having the most right English words is
the winner.
-Have Ss open the books again and go through the words in
English.
*Answers:

- Ask Ss to discuss and write down what they would do in
these situations which require first – aid.
- Call on some groups to give their answers and correct

2.Presentation:10’
Act 1: Pre teach vocabulary:
+ Set the context (use the picture) There is an emergency at
Lan’s school. Lan is calling to Bach Mai hospital to ask the
nurse to send an ambulance
- An ambulance (picture)

When there is an emergency)
- conscious (adj.) (translation)
- (to) bleed / the bleeding (explain: when you have a cut, the
cut will bleed.)
Act 2: Gap fill prediction:
- Hand the chart with the paragraph on the board:
“ There was an emergency at Lan’s school. A
student ………(1)……… off her bike and hit her head
on the road. She was ……(2)……… but she cut her
head and the ………(3)……… was ……(4)… badly.
Lan telephoned Bach Mai Hospital and asked the

- Ask Ss to predict the words in the gaps.
- Call on some Ss to go to the board and write their words.
3.Practice :(15’)
- have ss open their books, listen to the tape while
reading the dialogue.
- Check if Ss’ predictions are right or not.

--Draw the network with an example on the board and use it
as a game.
- Deliver posters to Ss and ask them to write as many words
as possible on their posters.
