In State National Account applied in our country since 1992, there are

numerous macro indexes including Gross National Income index. This is

an important index, which comprises all income receipts from produc￾tion and production factors (including labour, capital, natural resources

in one year) owned by a nation minus/plus income receipts from pro￾duction factors owned by foreigners.

In many country, there exists a big gap between GDP and GNI. If

income receipts from production factors is smailer than income payments

to production factors, GNI will tie smaller than GDP and vice versa. In

practice, outcomes of production and business activities in a certain

period for accumulating, spending, saving, stabilizing and improving lives

of inhabitants, developing production and business... in the year and fol￾lowing ones are from GNI (rather than GDP). Therefore, many countries

and international organizations pay special attention to GNI and utilize

this index for studying and evaluating nationat socio-economic develop￾ment

For Vietnam, along with fully applying all indexes in SNA, it is advis￾able to take further advantage and more effectively utilize GNI index in

studying, analyzing and forecasting socio-economic development
