Unit one. My homeland

I/ Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask where someone is from.

II / Content:

1. Pronunciation:

Where from England

2. Vocabulary:

- Noun: America, Vietnam, England, Singapore

- Question: where

- Gioi tu : from

3. Model sentences:

I am

He is from Vietnam.

She is

Where are you from? I’m from Vietnam

Where’s she / he from? He’s / She’s from England.

III / Teaching aids.

• Teacher’s preparation:

- Wall picture like in page 10 ( size A1 )

- Small pictures ( size A4 )

- Teacher book

- Cassette and tape for unit 1

• Student’s preparation:

- student’s books, work books.

V / Time: Four periods: Period 1 – section A – Ex 1,2,3.

- ask Ss to read all the word presented

b/ Checking : rub out and remember

- ask Ss to read all the words chorally

- rub out one word each turn in any order.

- point to the pictures and ask the Ss to

read the word chorally.

- do the same until all the words are rubbed

out and Ss remember them.

- ask the Ss rewrite all the words

- check the Ss writing and correct.

- ask Ss to write down.

- hang the big picture again

a/ Set the scene :

- Peter and Alan are in the school yard.

They are talking about their homeland

- ask Ss to listen to the tape.

b/ Repetition.

- Greetings and clap hands.

- get out the books, notebooks

- meaning: ask Ss to translate the model

- go through all the picture in this book

- ask Ss to read the question.

- hold up and give the answer for the first

picture. Then change the role: T asks, Ss

answer.

- divide Ss into two groups. One asks and

another answers, use the picture in their

books.

- invite some pairs to speech out, check

their pronunciation if necessary.

- hang up the picture again.

- ask Ss to make question and free answer
