• Allows many phones in an office to share fewer
number of “outside lines,” controlling cost growth
• Supports features
– Short-number extensions
– Conferencing
– Forwarding
– Security restrictions
– Lowest cost and other policy-based routing
– Manipulation of outgoing and incoming digits
– Park, etc.
• Provides for sophisticated selection of route, i.e.,
