Method: crossectlve and descnptive study.
Result: In 77 patients with type 2 diabetes
had 27,3% with decreased bone mineral
density. In that, osteopenia was 26%,
osteoporosis was 1.3%. Reduction in bone
mineral density at the female patients was
21 times more than male. Female patients,
over 60 years, the low education level, living
in rural areas had the risk of low bone
mineral density In tum 21 times, 13 times,
8 times and 3 times higher than other
patients. Additional one year old, the nsk
of decreased bone mineral density
Increased by 1.15 times and the male
patients, the risk of reduced bone mineral
density decreased 96%. Conclusions:
patients with type 2 diabetes was at the
higher risk of decreased bone mineral
density; specially, female patients, over
60 years, low education, living In rural
