Salmonella spp. Isolated from diarrheic piglets In some Northern provinces

SUMMARY

Results of Isolation and determination of biological characteristics, serotypes of Salmoneiia spp. in

piglets with dianhea in some northem provinces showed that: ^

- Examination of 224 fecal samples of piglets having dianhea resulted in 62.50% positive for

Salmoneiia spp. The rates of Salmoneiia spp. isolated were different in investigated provinces, the highest

in Bac Giang (63.51 %), followed by Thai Nguyen (62.50%) and tiie lowest rate in Vinh Phuc (61.42%) with

tile 5a/mone//a spp. average of 47.31 million/gram of feces.

- In piglets with dianhea. Salmonella spp. were present in most visceral organs. The rate of

Salmoneiia spp. isolated were highest in the mesentery ganglia (95.23%), followed in colon filled

(80.95%), in Intestine (57.14%), in liver (52.38 %), in spleen (28.57%) and lowest in kidney (23.80%).

- Isolated Salmoneiia spp. had earned all bicxhemistry characteristics of tiie stiain. In those Salmonella

spp. strains isolated, tiiere were 19 stiains (44.19%) belong 01 group were S. choierae suis; in Dl group

tiiere were 17 S. enteiitidis slrains (39.53%) and in group B Biere were 7 S. typhimunum strains (16.28%).
