ABSTRACT
The objective of this research is to analyzefactors influencing the production
efficiency of commercial channa micopeltes raising systems in Tra Cu district,
Tra Vinh province. Most of the surveyed farmers with low-educated and did not
want to join training regularly. Therefore, their knowledge is low and that makes
them difficult to update with new information for the treatment of channa
micopeltes. The model to raise commercial channa micopeltes needs a big
amount of capital for machines, food and medicine for the fish. This article uses
the multivariate regression model to define the factors affecting the production
efficiency of the model. The results show that the income of the farmers raising
the channa micropeltes are affected by the medicine costs, costs of hiring labour,
experience raising the channa micropeltes, the time of workshops, and the
investment in machines. Of these factors, the medicine costs and investment of
machines have inverse relations to the benefits of the farmers.
1. INTRODUCTION
At present, the model of commercial channa
micopeltes production is more and more common
at Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh province due to their
delicious and highly nutritious meat that makes
them more popular in the market. According to
the farmers, this model is quite beneficial and
suitable for them to increase their incomes
because it has simple investment, does not need a
big area, takes advantage of the available natural
sources of food, or the industrial foods are easy to
buy, and especially the investment capital is not
high. Besides that, the farmers keep their mind on
their work because of regular inspections by local
officials. On the natural sides, Tra Cu district has
a lot of rivers, so it has an active water
environment that is very suitable for raising
channa micopeltes. In Tra Cu district, there are
752 farmers raising the channa micopeltes within
93 ha. Dai An commune has the greatest number
of farmers raising the channa micopeltes in this
district (Kim Ngoc Thai, 2011).
However, according to the surveyed research area
(2004), the farmers raising the channa micopeltes
have difficulty in production and inputs such as
capital and low-educated workers, so they cannot
apply scientific technologies to production. The
price of the input factors is increasing while the
output market is not stable. Most of the farmers in
Tra Vinh province and in Tra Cu specifically are
spontaneous producers and they are easily
exploited by the purchasers. Therefore, the
research “Influencing factors to the production
efficiency of commercial channa micopeltes
raising model in Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh
province” is relevant.
