ABSTRACT
Vocabulary is the heart of language learning and language use. It is connsidered as one of the most
important espects of language acquisition for anyone who want to learn a new language. As a result,
buliding vocabulary is an important element of teaching language, particularly to young learners.
However, due to the monotony of traditional teaching techniques, improving students' lexical
resources is a difficult challenge for teachers. This study, therefore, emphasized on using
storytelling to develop vocabulary to young learners. The goals of this research were to find out
the effects of storytelling in teaching vocabulary to beginners at A Chau English center and how
teachers apply the storytelling method effectively in the classroom. Mixed-methodology with
questionnaires and interviews used as reserach methodologies. The findings illustrated the
storytelling brings extremely benifical to students.

During the period of doing this thesis, I received a plenty of enthusiastic help and support that
guide and encourage me to overcome all difficulties and finish this hard but meaningful time.
Firstly, I would like to express thanks to the School Board of Industrial University of Ho
Chi Minh City and the Faculty of Foreign Languages creating favorable conditions for me to take
my thesis.
Secondly, I am using this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude and special thanks
to Mrs. Tran Thi Xuan Thuy, my supervisor who provided me with helpful comments that help me
to finish my thesis. From these advices, I can overcome all difficulties and complete this thesis
greatly.
Furthermore, I would like to thank my group members Nguyen Thi Hang Ni for took part
in useful decision and gave necessary advices and guidance and Nguyen Thi Thai Huyen who
shared my feelings and gave me timely advice. they gave me insightful comments considerably
help me gain a lot of experiences in during the time I do my thesis.
Last but not least, I am grateful to all of the students and the teachers at A Chau English
center who participate in my survey . this played an important role in my successful thesis.
