PREFACE.
His Honour Judge Yate Lee in his lifetime and the
present editor, thinking that the number of reported cases
since the last edition of their joint production on Bank
ruptcy would render new edition on the same lines incon
veniently bulky, decided that the present editor should
attempt to provide substitute, re-writing throughout what
appeared to him worth preserving of the former materials
in reference to the law and practice in bankruptcy proper.
The notes which follow are the result of the decision.
The present editor has endeavoured to preserve all that
seemed valuable in the former book with as little alteration
as was consistent with the plan. But as he has to accept
sole responsibility for the selection, as well as for the form
in which the selected matter appears, he has hesitated to
style the notes new edition.
The Index is the work of Mr. A. B. Kennedy, of Lincoln's
Inn, to whom the editor is also indebted for valuable
assistance with the proofs.
The Table of Cases, giving references to contemporary
re]>orts, has been compiled by Mr. F. C. Phillips, in the
employ of the publishers.
