Notes:
1. For the latest supported firmware levels please see the support page.
2. This SAN product is not intended to attach to public telecom networks.
3. The FC Routing Blade (FC 3450) is supported with Firmware version 5.1.0b or later.
4. The 48 port Blade (FC3448) is supported with Firmware version 5.2.0a or later. FL ports
are not supported with this feature.
5. Additional Interoperability information and usage notes for the M48 FC Routing Blade can
be found at ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/san/brcd/2005R18.pdf
6. Both tape and disk attached to the same HBA are not recommended. .
7. Concurrent Code load is supported with Fabric OS v5.0.1 or later
8. FICON limitations
o FICON and zLinux is not supported on the 48 port blades or the iSCSI blade (FC
3460)
o The use of IPSec with FC3450 is not supported
o With the introduction of Fabric OS v5.0.1b release and FICON Support the 2109
M48 and 2005 B32, the aptPolicy routing policy for FICON must be configured for
Port-based routing. Other switches within that environment may remain with
exchange based routing. Any Brocade supported FICON platforms can be
cascaded without issue with FICON devices attached for backwards compatibility
For all other chassis configurations modes (1-4), the default routing policy is portbased path selection (paths are chosen based on ingress port and destination
only). This cannot be changed. This also includes user-configured paths. Note:
Chassis configuration mode 1 is supported for FICON. Chassis configuration
modes 2-4 are not supported for FICON configuration
o ISL (Cascaded) Connections between Brocade B-Series products (all switches and
directors) and Brocade M-Series (M4700, Mi10k, M6140) are not supported for FICON
deployment. Cascading between same series switches/directors is supported.
9. iSCSI blade (FC3460) is supported with the following initiators
o Microsoft iSCSI initiator 2.03
o RedHat EL 4 default initiator
o SourceForge.Net initiator 2.6.10-4.0.2
o AIX 5.3 ML4
o For additional information please see iSCSI Best Practices for M48 Blade
10. FICON Configuration Requirements o DLS Î off (Dynamic Load Sharing)
o Port Based Routing Î on
o In-Order Delivery Î on
o Domain/Port Zoning Î on (required for proper operation of prohibits/allows)
o Insistent Domain ID Î on (required for cascading) (Best practices is to set the switch domain to the
same value as the switch address.)
o Cascading requires use of SCC ACL
