Chapter Goals
Each chapter begins w ith a set o f goals, or learning objectives,
designed to provide focus fo r the chapter and m otivate stu
d en t learning. These obje ctive s indicate w hat the stu d e nt
should be able to do after com pleting the chapter.
Chapter Opening Exercise
A representative exercise opens the chapter and show s how
the ch ap ter co nte nt can be applied to a real w orld situation.
Introduction to the Topic
Each chapter starts with a review of the im portant concepts of the previous chapter and provides a link to the material in the current chapter.
