designed with ingenuity. Each resort presents the unique charm of its brand as
well as blends the regional features and the designer’s particular design styles.

In the process of its formation, each brand of the hotels & resorts with great international influence forms its
unique style and brand features. And each brand shows its infinite charm of classic humanity history which
accumulated during its formation. The direct way to know and understand brand resorts is to be personally on
the scene. The second way is through all-around introduction and intuitive picture shows. This book chooses
about the design cases of 50 resorts from the ten world-renowned brands, through which the design features
and styles of each resort are shown to the reader.

Le Meridien is a European brand with French background. Its three outstanding characteristics is exquisite,
elegant and innovative. Le Méridien sticks to a series of international standards, incorporating and absorbing
the distinguishing features of local heritages.
W is a contemporary design-led lifestyle brand. The artistry of its architecture is coupled with the comfort,
luxury and whimsy. Influences of old and new, local and global, come together in playful harmony.
Westin is an international brand with long history. The Westin hotels and resorts are defined by modern design,
gracious service and a deeply relaxing atmosphere.
Sheraton is an international large-scale brand. Featuring home style design, it offers the most comfortable
environment and services. All the guestrooms and the public areas are endowed with mature and stylish beauty.
One & Only always means: distinctive and original resorts in the world’s best locations. The architecture,
interiors and detailing of each resort tells its own individual story.
Naïade is a leader of hospitality in the Indian Ocean. A true delight of the senses, each Naïade beach hotel is
well designed incorporating the local culture.
The understanding of each brand can help designers deeply and comprehensively understand the essential
features and internal rules of resort design. This book introduces the great resorts of ten leading brands from
all over the world in details through beautiful photos and descriptions. It can not only bring a visual feast, but
also provide more references and open a door of new design for the hotel and resort designers.

Currently, Alila is embarking on its next generation of high-end luxury resorts, Alila Villas, in Bali, China,
Oman and the Gulf region. Alila Villas represent a new generation of exclusive timeless properties that
blend the ultimate in luxury with innovative lifestyle. Designed to fully respect the natural environment,
the villa resorts are selectively developed to grace some of the most spectacular destinations in exciting
resort locations.Continually striving to improve the environmental design, management and operation of its
properties, its sustainable actions are focused on: reducing the consumption of energy and water, reducing
waste, switching all paper usage to 100% recycled paper and using other recycled resources wherever
practical, sourcing locally for products and services to reduce costs of transportation and the resulting
carbon emissions, while benefiting local communities, working with suppliers and travel partners who adopt
sustainable business practices, and enabling guests to explore and enjoy the natural environment in ways
that are unintrusive.
Environmental sustainability is also built into the design of these ultra luxury all-villa resorts. Alila has
committed to becoming carbon neutral, first through the head office then throughout all Alila properties.
Working with The Green Asia Group, a specialist carbon management company in Asia, Alila has embarked
on the process of measuring, reducing and offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions. To stay at any of Alila's
resorts is to take on a memorable journey into the local culture for a total destination experience. Whatever

Balinese-inspired design aesthetic set in a dramatic natural landscape. Each individual villa is specifically designed and constructed
according to an environmentally sustainable. Alila Villas Uluwatu’s flawless and spacious architecture not only blends in with the surrounding
natural environment, but it also respects and harnesses it to showcase the fullness of Bali’s cultural richness. All individual private pools and
pavilions, which accompany each villa offers a beautiful ocean view backdrop that makes the Alila experience all the more serene, special and
of course, surprisingly different.
This prestigious development offers 52 one-bedroom villas, 2 two-bedroom villas, 5 cliff-side three-bedroom villas and 25 private villas, each
with its own pool and private pavilion overlooking the Indian Ocean. All individual villas showcase contemporary interiors enhanced with
touches of nature and traditional Balinese accents – reflected in planes of wood, water, stone and rattan. Walkways and bridges connect the
relaxation pavilions and pools to the spacious living areas, and the open-plan design allows the gentle sea breeze to circulate throughout all

as a tribute to his beloved wife ‘Sothea’, the resort exudes the elegance of a grand Khmer villa, fusing nature’s beauty with contemporary charm
and touches of Cambodian heritage. Eloquently furnished suites marry sumptuous space with refined comforts. Lush, landscaped gardens and
flowing waterways soothe the senses, while natural spa therapies and exquisite culinary sensations invigorate and stimulate. Escape to this
refuge of tranquility, to savour, indulge and fall in love.
Alila Sothea is renowned for its unique architecture, charming interiors and beautifully landscaped environment – a blend of contemporary
design and details that celebrate Khmer traditions. Conceived as an enticing hideaway, Alila Sothea evokes the beauty and elegance of its
Cambodian heritage. Sandstone balustrades adorn the public spaces, and long corridors are reminiscent of those in Angkor Wat. Water is a
prominent feature, symbolising the nurturing feminine spirit in Khmer lore. Intimate gardens woven with gently flowing waterways, reflection
pools, fountains and a magnificent swimming pool create an environment that soothes.
Alila Sothea’s 39 rooms and suites are havens of space, privacy and comfort, each with a private balcony and views that gaze across the pool.
The 48-square-metre Deluxe rooms and 65-square-metre Royal Deluxe rooms are based on a studio concept with lounge, bedroom and semiopen bath area. The 90-square-metre Queen Suites are designed for couple celebration, with luxury bedding, large bay windows, and a dining
room ideal for intimate dinners. Both the King and Queen Suites come with personalised Butler Service. Inspired by traditional Khmer villas,
the King Suites are the largest, ranging in size from 110 to 140 square metres. Each suite comes with a private garden or a large balcony, a
private library, and an in-suite spa area equipped with whirlpool Jacuzzi for two and massage beds.

with Green Globe International Environmental Standards. At Alila Villas Soori, guests will enjoy a total destination experience that is serene,
spiritual and completely one-of-a-kind.
All the villas in this luxury all-pool villa property were sensitively designed to maximise views of the surrounding beach, sea and paddy fields,
while still maintaining a sense of privacy and shelter. Interconnected spaces create a harmonious flow from the interior to exterior space. Alila
Villas Soori comprises of 15 one-bedroom Beach Villa, 15 one-bedroom Ocean Villa, 8 one-bedroom Terrace Villas as well as 10 residential
villas. Each villa is accompanied by its very own private pool and in-villa Alila hospitalities, such as dedicated villa host service, a gourmet bar,
espresso coffee and tea making facilities, 24-hour in-villa dining, LCD televisions, Apple TV and iPod, double vanity with complete range of
