ABSTRACT
Construction and development of industrial parks make inevitable demands of the
process of industrialization and modernization. Since the re-establishment
(01/01/1997) Binh Duong province has high economic growth rate with the
strong development of industrial parks in both quantity and quality. The
development of industrial parks and power has created a new life for Binh Duong
with rapid urbanization rate, attracting a large amount of labor in and outside
the province, and economic restructuring. Binh Duong province became the
bright spot, the local leader in the industrialization and modernization. However,
the pace of development of "hot" industrial parks raises many issues and
shortcomings. In particular, the problem of environmental pollution is an urgent
problem to be answered in order to meet the requirements of sustainable
development of industrial parks.
1. THE STATUS OF INDUSTRIAL PARKS
IN BINH DUONG PROVINCE
In 1995, Song Than I went into operation, the first
industrial park in the province. Since then
industrial parks in Binh Duong province have
grown constantly in quantity and quality.
According to the latest reports, Binh Duong
currently has 28 industrial parks, including 24
parks that went into operation with over 1200
enterprises and had attracted more than $ 390
million of foreign investment (FDI) in 2012, up
82.16% over 2011; which has been granted 63
new projects with a total registered investment
capital of $ 129,391,000, an increase of 75% of
the total projects and 52.4% increase in capital
over the same period; 46 projects have adjusted
capital increased by $ 260,709,919, down 0.6%
but the number of projects increased by 100% on
capital over the same period. In the 63 new
projects, 19 projects were from Japanese investors
with registered capital of $ 67,869,000; 13
projects from Korean investors with a capital of $
19,300,000; 12 projects from Taiwan investors
with a capital of $ 23,222,000; Special 3 EU
projects and 1 project from Canadian investors.
As of the first quarter of 2013, Binh Duong has 24
industrial parks with a total planned area of
7187.09 ha. There are 1,202 valid projects,
including 832 FDI projects and 370 domestic
investment projects with total registered
investment capital of U.S. $ 5.5 billion and
24090.986 billion. The industrial parks also have
1,033 signed leases for land and buildings with a
total area of 2,484 ha, the occupancy rate reached
51.31% (excluding Thoi Hoa Industrial Zone).
There are 903 enterprises in operation, the
proportion reached 75% of businesses are licensed
and valid, including 582 FDI enterprises (65%).
