Summary

ANTHROPOMETRIC EVALUATION ON THE NUTRITIONAL

STATUS OF ADULTS LIVING IN HA NOI

/Mm of this study was to evaluate the nutritional status in adolescents and adults living in Hanoi

based on Body Mass Index (BMI), The anthropometric values in 3728 males and 5052 females over

16 years-old showed that: BMI increased continuously with ages at both of sexes and scored

maximally at 50 59 years old group; after that BMI of both of sexes gradually decreased. The

nutritional status of Hanoian people was rather good; at 30 39 years old group (representative

for adults), the percentages of chronic energy deffieieney (CED) and overweight in men were

15.1% and 20.3% respectively; the corresponding ones in women were 14,6 and 18,0%. The

nutritional situation of urban population was better than the one in the urban area (p < 0,001). The

percentage of CED of Hanoian people was at everage level in comparison with the worid.
