Abstract
Studying the influence ofpH on nanofiltration membrance charge
The article describes the influence of pH on membrane charge during the
filtration. The membrane charge is not constant and changes according to pH of the
solution. The experiment was conducted with polyamide thin -film composite NF270. Zeta-polential which represents the membrane charge changed as afuncOon of
pH values of feeding solution. The resub showed that zeta potential was decreased
when the pH was increased from 3.81 to 10,52. Then, the zeta potential became
negative and increased in absolute value as a function ofpH. Especially, at pH
5.01, a reversal of the sign of the membrane surface charge was observed, the zela
potential value of the membrane alpH 5,01 was -0.41 mM, marking the changing of
membrane charge from positive to negative The influence ofpHon the membrane
charge is an important factor that affects the ability of removing charged solute of
nanofilalralion membrane.
