A- Objectives:

- Ss get on with the forms and uses of the past simple tense to talk about past events.

- Ss ask for and retell about a vacation or a picnic ...

B- Preparations:

- Books, cassette player and tape, ...

- Ss collect pictures about some famous places.

C- Procedures:

I- Checking up:

- T checks Ss' preparations for the new lesson.

II- New lesson:

- T lets Ss to discuss about their the last

term.

- Ss discuss

- T hangs the collected pictures of Nha

Trang and them makes suggested Qs

- Ss look at the pictures and answer the T's

questions.

- T introduces the dialogue between Ba

and Liz. (Ss listen to the T and prepare to

hear the dialogue).

- T plays the tape (twice)

- T explains some verbs of the dialogue

and then presents the new grammar:

- Ss listen to the T and copy

* Questions for discussion:

semester ?

1) To be:

(+) S + was/were + O

Ex: It was wonderful.

(-) S + was not (wasn't)/were not (weren't)

Note: Pronunciation of "ed"

+ / t / : walked; laughed ....

+ / d / : opened; learned ...

+ / id /: a verb ends with /t/ or /d/. (started;

needed ...)

III- Consolidation:

- Ss repeat and remember the forms and uses of past simple tense.

- T asks two Ss to retell the forms and uses of past simple tense. (in front of the class)

II- New lesson:

- T conducts Ss to play Noughts and

crosses.

- Ss play

- T plays the tape A.1 again.

- Ss listen to the tape and answer some Qs

- T introduces the text (A.2) about Liz and

her family did during the vacation to Tri

Nguyen aquarium by making a question:

- Ss guess:

- Ss look at part 2 (P. 87)

- T conducts Ss to read the text and answer

I- Checking up:

- T asks Ss to give their homeworks, then T collects some of them to correct in front

of the class.

II- New lesson:

- T asks Ss to tell about the trip of the

Robinsons to Nha trang, that they have

learnt.

- Ss retell.

- Ss discuss about the T's Qs.

- T cunducts: (Liz and Ba are friendss.

This morning they met each other. Can

- Ss divide these verbs into 2 columns (one concludes irregular verbs and other

concludes regular verbs), and then change them into past forms.

of the class.

guess what they are doing ?
