Abstract
This report presents an automated shopping tool tailored for Shoprite shopping Mall. The
project was an important area for development because of the efficiency; reliability and
security of the procedures used to conduct proceeding purchase and payments. The aim of this
project work was to develop an interactive automated shopping tool which allows users to
order and make necessary payments on web-based platform. It involved phases: such as
development of a front-end as user interface; the development of database for keeping
customers records, and the development of a web-based administration tool.
Information for system study was gathered using tools such as interviews, e-journals, websites
and the study of relevant literature. DFDs and ERDs were used in the analysis and design of
the system. The technologist used in the implementation of the objectives of this study
included PHP and the Database Management System employed was MySQL. The outcome of
the project was an integrated system capable an automated shopping tool for ShopRite
shopping mall. Upon successful testing and system validation, the researchers believe that the
system can be administered fairly, effectively and efficiently.
